As a human resources professional and consultant, Jill MacFadyen has worked for several American, Japanese and German firms in a wide variety of industries. She loved recruiting individuals for the ideal cultural fit and was responsible for recruiting positions of all levels, up to and including company president.
A 2002 interview with a potential candidate changed her perspective. One of the required questions was "Tell me what you are most proud of?" The young man on the other end replied, "beating cancer last year." Knowing that answers about his health would be a detriment to his candidacy, Jill told him that legally she was not supposed to have access to that type of information and that they were going to start all over. The man then asked if she thought that was why he hadn't been able to land a position even though he had many interviews. She gently told him yes and helped him find an example that showcased his professional accomplishments. Between that incident and being tired of rejecting qualified applicants, Jill decided to make a difference by helping candidates find the right position for themselves.
In addition to helping corporate and private clients, Jill volunteers her time with career coaching presentations at the Lake Forest Career Center, National Able and the National Hispanic Business Leadership Conference. As a participating coach in a program agreed between the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), she provided coaching services to WFP staff.
Jill MacFadyen received her coach's training from The Coaches Training Institute and is certified as a Life Coach by The International Coach Federation. She has a Bachelor's degree from Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA, a Master's Degree in Industrial Relations from Loyola University in Chicago, IL and a Graduate Certificate in Organizational Development from Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. Jill is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Society of Human Resources Management and is qualified to administer the Myers Briggs Type Indicator from the Association for Psychological Type. She has worked with high-profile corporate clients including McKinsey & Company, Inc. She facilitates job search groups for alumni of Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
| "To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour." Winston Churchill |
